On Memorial Day, we went to Point Mallard Water Park here in Decatur, AL. My kids had a great time playing on the "little" slide, children's pool and the wave pool with mommy. We managed not to burn too bad.  I still got some sun even though I used sunscreen and reapplied two times while we were there.  Chloe and Clay both just turn this beautiful brown color. We came home and grilled some hotdogs before the rain started and ate inside. It started raining late that evening and has been raining for two days now.  The kids are ready to play outside and it is a muddy mess!  So much for summer weather.  I am not planning to work much during the week this summer because I want to take the kids to the zoo, some children's museums, the different parks and just basically hang out.  They start kindergarden on August 7th!  I still don't think they are old enough :-(

Graduating from Pre-school

We did it!  Chloe and Clay managed to graduate from pre-school :-) Today was a special ceremony and party for the children that are going to Kindergarden next year.  All of the kids showed us how much they have learned about ABCs, 123s, shapes, pledges and songs.  It really is amazing how much they have picked up over the course of time. Their hats have a small gold tassel on them and say "Class of 2008".  We ate snacks that even Clay approved of after the show.  Chloe and Clay were very proud of themselves and think that they are pretty big stuff.  You really do have to be a special person to work with 3 & 4 year olds all day every day!  Big school, here we come!!!!!

Sunday Musings

Luckily I was not really busy at work and could attend church.  Mom, dad and I  enrolled  in the new members class that was tonight at Decatur Baptist Church.  It was a 4 hour long class with the preacher about what the church believes and what principles it is built on.  Interesting to say the least.  I mean, I have been baptist since before I was born, but I have never had it taught to me quite like this.  I like the church so far and the kids love it.  (Clay is especially fond of the large indoor playground and Chloe likes the loud music). I do find it nice to go to a church and learn something new every Sunday morning.  When we got back from church tonight, Chloe refused to come home with Clay and I, instead opting for the more fun "stay with grandma." Lucky for Chloe that grandma likes real food.  Clay came home and watched boy tv shows before passing out in bed. Chloe likes to lay up in the bed with grandma...wonder if she managed to get her into her own bed :-)

Days gone by

It has been raining here in Northern Alabama for about 24 hours.  A nice, slow shower that will help my tomato and pepper plants, the new hosta and coral bells and the tree we have planted in our yard.  But for the humans in the house, it makes for some long days.  I love to send my kids outside to play and run off some excess energy! I was thinking about my sister in Kansas City, Missouri today.  She is due to have her first child in early June. I dug around in my "archive" of photos for some pictures of us when we were little.  The first picture in in the den at our home in Tennessee.  Meredith, Preston and I are dressed for Easter (I think) Sunday services. Mom made our dresses.  I figure that we are close to 8, 4 and probably about 6 months old.  Does the second photo not scream 1970s? This is a picture taken for the church to use in the "annual" book of members.  The third is a shot of Mom, Meredith and Preston. I have no idea who took the photo-I wonder if it was me? Mom was so young......the more I think about it, she was probably my age.  Time does creep up on you when you have kids. The fourth photo is what I am predicting Meredith's baby to look like.  I told Meredith that it already has my lips.  I think I was a beautiful baby.  Now, hopefully it will not act like me.  I was a terror for months and on top of that I had no hair until I was 2.  Why mother had anymore children is beyond me :-)  But I am glad that she did!

Twinkle Toes

Saturday night Chloe was on stage as a fairy princess and a small version of Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz."  She was as cute as a button :-)  She was very excited and loved (I should repeat loved) wearing makeup and RED lipstick.  She has been taking a ballet and tap combination class for about nine months.  As mom and dad can attest, they get a lot of points for being cute!  Chloe also took some pictures backstage of mommy.  Hi all!!  Mom and dad, Johney and Angela, Megan and her boyfriend came to the recital.  Clay also got to spend two final hours watching dance for the year. Overall, it was a big success for all of the dancers.

"Congratulating"

To understand the title, you must understand my children.  They are five, and some words escape them.  They attend a very special daycare that is overseen by Mrs. Hamrick (Mrs. Ham for short).  Next Thursday, they are going to have a ceremony in which all of the five year olds are "graduating" from daycare.  Chloe insists that she is going to "congratulate" from school so that she can attend big school next year. They brought home Mother's Day presents today from school.  They are so precious.  I do have to admit.....they both opened them in the car for me before I could even see the wrapping paper!  I will bet you will think the tea towels are cute too.  How sweet!
